In this Field Notes Friday, we’re continuing the “Autism Awareness: Who Are We Missing?” series. I explore the intersection of autism and genderqueerness—an overlap that shows up in both research and community spaces, yet still often goes unrecognized in clinical care.
I walk through findings from the Warrior and Strang studies and reflect on some of the implications of these overlapping identities. Honestly, this was a hard one to record. There’s so much I want to say, and words feel inadequate. I’m just really sad right now.
If you are Trans and Autistic, I hope you’re safe. I hope you’re finding micro-moments of okayness.
A quick note: Field Notes Friday videos are usually for paid subscribers, but I’m making this series free and open to all. That said, if it starts attracting harmful attention or becomes emotionally unsustainable to keep public, I may move it to a private space. Thank you for understanding.

The Neurodivergent Insights team and The Nook have worked to develop a database of resources of neurodivergent people. You can access the full database here. And here is a link to all of the neuroqueer resources.
Rebecca Minor and I put together a workshop on the overlap of neurodiversity and genderdiversity a few years ago. You can access it here (use code NNOTES50 for 50% off the price).
Conversation Entry Points
If you are genderqueer and Autistic what has helped you feel more seen or supported at the intersection of autism and genderqueerness?
Are there resources, language, or communities that have made a difference for you?
If you support others, how are you holding space for the overlap of queerness and neurodivergence? What practices, postures, or intentions are helping you show up in this cultural moment?
